“Where is happiness for goldfish?”
Merpeople is a short film about an 18-year-old Japanese girl who lost her long-kept goldfish goes on a trip to Hong Kong to find the answer, starring Hannah Chan. She meets a mysterious Hong Kong girl at a fish store during her trip. By identifying each other, they share an idea of life and death. Knowing that its destiny of goldfish is dying in a fish bowl, they grab a goldfish and head to a lake, where they're releasing the fish.
A director of photography work for Japanese director Qunio Nozawa. The short movie was shot in Hong Kong, took place in local areas such as Sham Shui Po and Mong Kok. The mood and color tone shows the city's texture and exotic feel.
